What Do You Do For Your New Patients ?

What Do You Do For Your New Patients ?

From New Practices To New Patients

In the early days your culture will reflect your personal life and values. Don’t be afraid to let this shine through, the people of the 21st century like to interact with ‘real people’.

As you begin to grow your practice your culture will begin to thrive off the values that you put in place, but it will also be a reflection of your new employees and their association with the values of your business.

The reason this is so important is because this is what will drive your patient generating machine ! Although there are many ways to set up a modern appointment generating machine, and I could let you in on a few that would help you to do rather well, none of them can replace exceptional company culture.

Having an outstanding culture means that your employees are connected and engaged with their purpose and your patients feel like they are at the centre of your world. Get this right, my friend, and you’ve effectively just created a referral generating machine.

Whether you’re a 3 person team; Dentist, hygienist and practice manager or a 20 person team across 3 locations, if you get this right you’re pockets will thank you for it later.

How To Get New Patients With Company Culture

“So how do I establish this ‘company culture’ you speak of ?”

“Isn’t that reserved for large multinational companies that have to deal with employee turnover and corporate branding headaches ?”

Not necessarily, no.

The following 3 areas can be adopted by any size organisation or dental practice for that matter.

Think of your employees as your first new patients.

Now it’s pretty obvious that you’re not going to operate on your employees every time they chime in, but if you’re the kind of practitioner that is mindful of the way you treat your patients, ensuring that they return for future treatment, then be mindful of instilling that same great feeling in your staff members too ! Treat them how you would like your patients to be treated and you will see your employees treat every patient that walks through the door as if they had the same stakes in the business as you do. Wouldn’t that be nice.

Put your employees in the shoes of your new patients.

Similarly to our first point we want our employees to be empathetic, caring and accountable to all patients.

So if this is the case, what patients do you regularly serve ? What type of person do you most commonly assist back to better health ?  For example, if you’re assisting elderly people most often, but your workforce is quite young and youthful, they must be educated on the lives of the elderly. This is crucial because the interaction between your staff members and your patient is a direct reflection of your business. If your receptionist is unable to look after and relate to the elderly, then quite frankly your business isn’t cut out for it either. One financial institution in the USA does this extremely well. They serve past and present military personnel. They put their customer service representatives through military simulation during the companies regular technical training. Employees are exposed to ready to eat meals, 65 pound back packs, the works ! This depth of understanding of their customers has made the business an impenetrable force to it’s competitors.
